Ministers and MPs from the government say that UPFA MPs are attempting to sabotage the endeavour for constitutional reform.

Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella noted that the opposition is attempting to show a false picture to the country by portraying that he had been summoned to the Bribery Commission for granting ministerial positions. He stated that they started this process in order to prevent the 19th Amendement from being introduced by acting ‘like babies.’

Deputy Minister of Justice Sujeewa Senasinghe noted that the law must be enforced in the country regardless of a person’s status. All Mahinda Rajapaksa has to do is to make a statement regarding this matter and give his response to the people to end this.

Minister of Technology and Reasearch Patali Champika Ranawaka stated that the law has not been enforced, but when we ask them to come for an investigation they do not go. They use their power in Parliament. However, the accusation that has been brought does not count for anything. What is actually happening is nothing but an attempt to sabotage the dialogue on the amendment to the constitution.
