Funpark in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk played host to an unusual winter sporting event on Sunday, April 19 with skiers in costumes racing downhill to end their run in a pool of cold water.

A yearly contest drew 111 ski and snowboard fans who wore costumes ranging from Super Man, Zorro, to a giant piece of cake, in an event that saw participants rushing down a snow-covered hill and jumping into a cold pool of water.

Most of the contestants did not manage to slide a long way across the pond, however this did not cool down their excitement.

Spectators cheered as show participants fell into the pond.

This year people of various age ranging from 9 to 68 joined the competition. However only seven participants managed to slide across the pond and finish dry shod.
