29 Sri Lankans who were trapped in Yemen due to the current crisis in the country  have arrived in the island.

The flight carrying the Sri lankans arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport at 8.15 Wednesday evening.

The group had been evacuated from Yemen to Djibouti through the intervention of the Chinese government on the 7th of April prior to arriving in Sri Lanka on Wednesday (April 8th). Our correspondent stated that the group arrived aboard Qatar Airways flight QR 656.

Meanwhile,  Deputy General Manager of the Foreign Employment Bureau, Mangala Randeniya said that another group of Sri lankans who are trapped in Yemen amidst clashes will be brought back to the country on Friday, April 10th.

Deputy General Manager Mangala Randeniya noted that the Chinese government and all the Sri lankan embassies located around the region where clashes are taking place helped to repatriate the Sri Lankan migrant workers in Yemen.
