JHU files Supreme Court petition against 19th Amendment to Constitution (Watch video)

The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) filed a petition with the Supreme Court on Tuesday against the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.

JHU Western Provincial Councillor Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe says that they do not need a president with arbitrary executive powers or the executive powers.

He went onto note that they even do not need a prime minister with arbitrary executive powers.

Speaking further, he said that some are attempting to pick-pocket the people’s votes.

Meanwhile,  the JVP filed a petition with the Supreme Court in favour of the 19th Amendment to the Constitutiion.

The petitions filed with the Supreme Court over the 19th Amendment to the Constitution will be taken up on Wednesday.

The petitions will be taken up before a bench comprising of Chief Justice K. Sripavan and Justice Chandra Ekanayake and Priyasad Depp.
