The Water Resources Joint Trade Union Alliance of the Western Province says that all official work, repair and maintenance work within the province will be halted from 9 a.m.  to 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

The halt  occurs as a result of a trade union action which is held to protest against not fulfilling the promises made to the employees on salary hike.

Water Resources Joint Trade Union Alliance Convener Upul Ratnayake stated that they are yet to receive the salary hike which was due in January. As a result all official work, repair and maintenance work within the province will be halted.
