Hope to transform parliament in its entirety, into a govt: PM (Watch Video)

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says it is his hope to transform parliament in its entirety, into a government.

The Prime Minister expressed these views while speaking at an event held in Temple Trees on Wednesday.

An event to distribute motorcycles to public officials, sponsored by the Ministry of Public Administration, was held at Temple Trees under the auspices of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the fact that they have come to this position is a major accomplishment. He stated that this is a new beginning after 1947 and 51.

The Prime Minister went onto note that nothing else matters if they can work together in these few months. Speaking about forming a government, he said:

All the concessions that are to be given, will be given and all of this will be concluded by  April 23. This is a rehearsal of how we are going to work together after a parliamentary election is held. I want to turn the entire parliament into a government.”

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake added that he is able to remind the former president, that all the clean projects will go ahead. He also said since more than 80 percent of those projects were corrupt, they have put a stop to the era where the taxpayers money went into other people’s pockets.

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Administration Karu Jayasuriya expressing his views said that he believes they can bring forth a constitution that can be accepted by all.

Speaking on the Executive Presidency the minister noted:

”We went before the people and said that all of the destructive powers vested in the position of Executive President, will be removed. We said before the people, that a government led by a Prime Minister accountable to parliament, will be established.”
