Police says that Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa is to be brought back to the country to obtain a statement over alleged irregularities said to have taken place at the Divi Neguma Department.
Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that the Financial Fraud Division has sought the advice of the Attorney General in this regard. The ASP added that a statement is to be recorded from Basil Rajapaksa over the use of Divi Neguma Department funds for the recently concluded Presidential election, irregularities in providing the Divi Neguma Gativity and several other matters.
In his statement to the police, the former director general had stated that funds from the department were provided under the instructions of the former minister. The police noted that as a result of this issue, a statement will be obtained from Basil Rajapaksa.
