A complaint was filed with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against the Mayor of Kotte, Janaka Rawaka.

A group of opposition members of the Kotte Urban Council including UNP Councillor Chandima Nayanajith filed this complaint.

The complaint reads that the Mayor is constructing a shopping mall in violation of the Municipal Councils Ordinance and monetary regulations.

UNP Urban Councillor of Kotte UC , Chandima Nayanajith said that, at present, the Kotte Urban Council is developing a project called Jana Jaya by allocating a sum of 2.3 billion rupees from the tax payers in Kotte.

He stated:

This project is a waste of public funds. This project of 2.3 billion is a project where there is corruption taking place. Therefore, they filed a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
