President Maithripala Sirisena has wished the Sri Lankan cricket team through Skype as the  team prepare for the quarter finals.

Sri Lanka will be facing South Africa on March 18  in the first quarter final of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. Sri Lanka came third on the Pool A points table with 8 points, winning 4 out of 6 games.

Bangladesh will be taking on the undefeated Indian camp in the second quarter-final on the following day at the MCG. Bangladesh, who beat Afghanistan, the English and Scotland, have been in fantastic form throughout the tournament and made the tournament favourite New-Zealand side struggle and fight for the victory during their last encounter.

Australia will take on the Pakistan side on March 20 at the Adelaide Oval. Pakistan who struggled early in the tournament has finally found their form in both batting and bowling departments.

In the fourth and final quarter-final, the Gayle-equipped West Indies side will be taking on the tournament favourite New Zealand team on March the 21  at the Westpac Stadium, Wellington. Both West Indies and New Zealand have been the two most aggressive run scoring teams in the on-going world cup and as a result, the clash between them at the Westpac Stadium will most definitely be a hard hitting blood-bath.

The first semi-final which is scheduled to take place at Eden Park in Auckland on  March 24, will be between the quarter-final winners of the New Zealand vs West Indies match and Sri Lanka vs South Africa match.

The second semi-final will be taking place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on   March 26 and will be held between the winners of the Australia vs Pakistan match and the winner of the Bangladesh vs India match.
