St. Thomas’ College took the upper hand on Day 2 of the 136th Battle of the Blues against Royal College, but failed to press their advantage and amass a big score.
When rain halted play at the SSC, the Thomians were on 182 for the loss of 1 wicket after 66.3 overs. The Thomian opening pair resumed play on Day 2 on Friday with an overnight score of 50 for no loss.
Yohan Mendis was the first dismissal of the day on 51 runs. Ravindu Kodituwakku and Nipun Gamage showed great composure at the crease but did not press the team’s advantage and seek to amass a big score.
When rain halted play in the 67th over, Kodituwakku was unbeaten on 88 while Gamage was not out on 26.
Batting in their first essay Thursday, the Royalists were bowled out for 199 runs.
