The protest organized by the Federation of the University Teachers Association demanding the vice chancellor of the Colombo University to step down, was temporarily halted on Tuesday.

The association had arrived at the decision subsequent to a meeting convened on Tuesday morning.

The lecturers at the Colombo University staged this protest at the college house.

The protesters engaged in the protest opposite the office of vice chancellor demanding that he either steps down or a reasonable solution be granted by the authorities.

Meanwhile, a discussion was held on Tuesday morning between the university lecturers and the Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Professor Mohan de Silva.
