The new Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Yi Xianliang said that the Port City project is important to Sri Lanka and not just for the Chinese company.

He made this statement at a meeting with journalists held in the Chinese Embassy on Tuesday.

The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka noted that China is promoting the silk route, adding that it will benefit all countries concerned including Sri Lanka.

Yi Xianliang assumed duties as the new Chinese Ambassador to Sri lanka on the 24th of February 2015.
