President Maithripala Sirisena, who arrived in London yesterday, will attend the Commonwealth Day observances, themed ‘A Young Commonwealth’ as the chair-in-office of the Commonwealth on Monday, March 9.
Presidential Media Director Darmashri Bandara Ekanayake spoke to News 1st from London.

The president of Sri Lanka is the chair-in-office and chief guest for this years celebrations. A number of important figures including Queen Elizabeth the Second will be present at the celebrations. A religious ceremony will be held in Westminster Abbey, following which the celebrations will take place at Melbeach House London. Tomorrow, the president is due to meet prime minister David Cameron for bilateral discussions.[/quote]
