Four councillors of the Eastern Provincial Council including two TNA councillors took oaths as provincial ministers on Tuesday March 3,  at the office of the governor of the province.

S. Thandayuthapani who functioned as the Opposition Leader of the Council, took oaths as the Minister of Education.

M.I.M. Mansoor of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress took oaths as the Minister of Health.

K. Thurairajasingham took oaths as the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, while Ariyawathi Galappaththi took oaths as the Minister of Road Development and Lands.
