Politburo member of the Frontline Socialist Party, Pubudu Jagoda charges that the present government is continuing to carry out the oppression of the previous regime.
Representatives of several political parties and civil society participated at the press conference held under the initiative of the Frontline Socialist Party.
Pubudu Jayagoda said:
”It has been 40 days since the appointment of a new government. Within this time-frame, a problem has arisen where those who were victims of an anti-democratic regime have not been granted justice. Now the relatives and parents of persons reported missing have once again lodged complaints. No steps have been taken. Several persons are being held as political prisoners. The government, at least, has not taken steps to release political prisoners who are being held without any charge filed against them. The law of oppression which was carried out by the former regime is continuing to be implemented by the new regime as well.”
