West Indies secured a crushing 150 run victory against their pool B opponents Pakistan at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Saturday.

Pakistan winning the toss invited West Indies to bat first.

Batting first West Indies were in early trouble at 2-28 with Dwayne Smith and Chris Gayle out cheaply, but Bravo helped restore the innings despite a left-leg injury and being hit by the ball as he attempted a run.

Half centuries from Lendl Simmons and Denesh Ramdin lead West Indies to a second successive score over 300.

Haris Sohail was the pick of the Pakistan bowlers with 2-62.

Chasing a target of 311 Pakistan got onto a disastrous start losing their top lineup for just 01 run.

Pakistan recovered sufficiently to at least be competitive for a while but the dismissals of Sohaib Maqsood (50) and Umar Akmal (59) hastened the end of the match.

It was the worst start to an innings in World Cup history and Pakistan were all out for 160 in 39 overs , with Jerome Taylor and Andre Russel taking 3 wickets a piece.

Andre Russel walked away with the man of the match award.
