A seminar on under the theme The Revised Budget 2015 was held in Colombo on Thursday.
The event was organised by the Sri Lanka Economic Association together the Department of Economics of the University of Colombo.
President, SLEA, Prof. A.D.V. Indraratna expressed his views over the interim budget.
He said that he cannot call it Interim Budget because it covers the whole year from January to December – and reading through the budget contents and the budget arithmetic – he would prefer to call this The Revised 2015 Budget.
He went on to say that the 2015 budget presented by the previous government – UPFA Government in November 2014 – has been revised or modified so as to mainly accommodate the various revenue and expenditure proposals necessary to fulfill the promises made by the new government before the people at the presidential elections.
A panel discussion got underway with participation of prominent economists and bankers.
