Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena was released on bail on the orders of Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya.
The Former Deputy Minister was released on a cash bail of Rs. 150,000 and a surety of Rs.60 million. Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate on Wednesday.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption had filed three cases against the Former Deputy Minister on 107 charges.
These cases were filed against him over the Rs.36 million fraud while he was the National Lotteries Board Chairman.
The magistrate also ordered that the passport of Sarana Gunawardena be revoked and for the Deputy Minister to be present in court on May 18.
