The interim budget containing concessions agreed upon by the new government will be presented to Parliament on Thursday.

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake says that the interim budget will provide for the fulfillment of promises made to the people, with no additional burden.

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake met with Ronnie de Mel, a former Finance Minister on Wednesday morning.

Karunanayake discussed with the former minister, the budget that he would be presenting to Parliament on Thursday.

Former Finance Minister, Ronnie De Mel said: In truth, I am very happy that the new Finance Minister came to meet me and discuss this matter with me. I cannot say much about the budget without the proper statistics, but I am knowledgeable on the subject. I know that this government will bring forth several good budgets and give the economy a new boost.

Minister of Finance, Ravi Karunanayake stated:

The only thing we can say is that we will give the people all that was promised, without any additional burden. Not everything that was done by the former government was wrong. There are three or four good things that we will do better. What we had to resolve and balance was how we are going to fulfill limitless demands with limited resources. This is why I came to meet former Finance Minister Ronnie de Mel, to inquire into his views.
