President Maithripala Sirisena handed over letters of appointment to 39 Ministerial Secretaries on Monday.
The letters were handed over at an event held at the Presidential Secretariat. Speaking to the newly-appointed secretaries, President Maithripala Sirisena stated that their primary responsibility is to ensure that the administration and management of the institutions under them are able to have relations with the public in such a way that allegations cannot be levelled against them.
Some of the appointments that were made today were:
E.M.S.B. Ekanayake – Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Sumith Abeysinghe – Secretary to the Cabinet.
B.M.U.D Basanayake – Secretary to the Ministry of Defence.
Professor K. Liyanage – Secretary to the Ministry of Policy Development and Economic Affairs and Secretary to the Ministry of Culture and Arts.
T.M.K.B Tennakone – Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, Christian Religious Affairs and Disaster Management.
P.H.J.B. Sugathadasa – Secretary to the Ministry of Food Security.
C. Wagishwara – Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs
