President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that if the nation is to move towards change, it should be, change for the better.
The President made this statement during a meeting with a group of Sri Lankan expatriates. A meeting of the European Sri Lankans Organisation was held in Colombo on Monday morning.
A group of Sri Lankan expatriates from Italy, England, Germany, Switzerland, Netherland and Sweden, participated at this meeting.
Speaking at the event, the President said:
It took one and a half hours to get from Katunayake to here. Now, it only takes 15 to 20 minutes. So. change is happening. If there is a need for change again then it should not be a regression to the time where it took one and a half hours to travel. When moving towards change, it should be change for the better. It should not be change for destruction. Are these people with the strength to bring about change? We need to think about this too. You, who are living in Europe must be aware of this change and the change that is happening in other countries. I believe that a certain group in Sri Lanka has turned heads using a Facebook view. Certain groups are doing this. It is the same thing that happened in Libya.
