The South Eastern University in Oluvil, Ampara has been shut down indefinitely due to inclement weather conditions experienced in the area.
University Registrar, H. Abdul Sathar said that several buildings in the university were inundated after a river running adjacent to the university overflowed. He added that some buildings have submerged in over four feet of water.
University students have been granted holidays till further notice and steps have been taken to vacate the hostels of the university.
University Registrar, H. Abdul Sathar went on to note that students who were due to face exams in the coming days would be advised on the new schedule of examinations.
