The Amaban River has overflowed due to the opening of six spill gates of the Bowatanne Reservoir. The Disaster Management Centre noted that due to this several villages in the Matale district including Na Ula have gone under water.

Meanwhile, district secretary of Nuwara Eliya says that transportation activities of three main roads in Nuwara Eliya have been hampered due to rock-slides and earth slips. He added that areas including Nuwara Eliya, Welimada, Ragala, Wathumulla and Nanu Oya are facing the threat of earth slips.

Furthermore, Iirrigation Director of Anuradhapura Lalith De Alwis says that due to the inclement weather 56 reservoirs have opened their spill gates while water capacity of 76 other reservoirs have reached a high level.
