Please watch report.
The skipper made this comment while speaking to reporters ahead of friday’s first test against the Kiwis. A five-day test match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka opens on Friday at the country’s newest test venue, Hagley Oval, a purpose-built ground on the vast green space of Hagley Park on the western edges of Christchurch’s central city. It will be the first international cricket match in New Zealand’s second-largest city since the February 22, 2011 earthquake that devastated Christchurch.
Commenting on the game Lanka Skipper Angelo Matthews stated that the first test will be a new experience for the young players in the team.
Meanwhile New Zealand Batting Coach Craig Macmillan says that his batsmen are ready to play in the Oval which favours pace bowlers. Cricket New Zealand believes that the opening day will see a big crowd as tickets for day one have already been sold out.
