Inclement weather lashes five districts – over 25,000 affected

People in five districts have been affected by the inclement weather.

Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Koddipili said that more than 25,000 people have been affected by floods.

The Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Puttalam, Mannar and Trincomalee districts have been thus affected.

Pradeep Koddipili said that steps are being taken to provide relief to those affected.

The Anuradhapura district is the worst affected by the weather.

According to our correspondent a large number of families in the Polonnaruwa district have been affected by floods.

Meanwhile, railway services have been restricted up to Kekiraawa, along the Batticaloa rail route. The railway control room said that railway services along the northern rail route will function as normal.

The Met Department says that there will be a reduction in rainfall on Sunday.
