Protestors take to the streets over Ampara road

Residents of Ampara, staged a protest requesting that the Ampara – Pahalalanda road which has been in a dilapidated state for over half a century be renovated.

The residents staged the protest requesting that the road, which runs across Pahala-landa karaana, be renovated.

Our correspondent said that the protestors who marched to the location, completely obstructed the Ampara – Inginiyagala road. He stated that  vehicular traffic along the road was disrupted.

Deputy Minister of Labour and Labour Relations Sarath Weerasekara who arrived at the location, promised  the protestors that the road will be renovated, after which the protestors dispersed.
