The deadly dengue virus has claimed the lives of 90 persons so far this year according to the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health.
Director of the unit Dr. Paba Palihawadana noted that over 43,000 Dengue cases have been reported so far this year.
She further said that there is a higher risk of the disease spreading in the districts of Mannar, Kandy and Jaffna.
The director went on to say that a national dengue control programme will be conducted covering these areas on December 18, 19 and 20.
