An incident was reported from Kandy which portrays the behaviour and  mentality of a section of  people during the period of elections.

An individual employed at a communication centre in Kandy has been attacked in front of centre on Friday evening by a group including a three-wheeler driver.

After being admitted to the Kandy Teaching Hospital, the individual who came under attack expressed these views:
At around 7.30 last night, I waved at one of my friends who was travelling in a tipper. The tipper was carrying cut-out of Mahinda Rajapaksa. One of the three-wheeler drivers who saw me waving called me and asked who did you wave at? I said it was someone I know. They said I waved because it was carrying Mahinda Rajapaksa’s cut-outs, and there was a verbal dispute. He said that he will show me who he was and he held my hands along with his brother. The other one was going to attack me but I bent down. Afterwards, they hit my head four to five times
Kandy Police has commence investigations in this regard.
