Eastern Provincial Councillor Ameer Ali has been sworn in as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the seat left vacant by the resignation of A.H.M. Azwer last week.

Ali will sit as a National List MP of the United People’s Freedom Alliance.  Azwer resigned from Parliament on November 28. The seat was proposed to be given to council member Ameer Ali.

Azwer was later appointed as Senior Advisor to the President on Parliamentary Affairs, Mass Media and Communication.
