A woman was killed in an accident in the Lunawa area in Ambalangoda. A tipper which was plying along the Matara -Tissmaharama main road ran over the victim early Wednesday morning. The deceased was twenty-nine-year old Vitharange Padmini Shiromala.

The accident occurred when the tipper was travelling in the wrong lane and collided into an oncoming SLTB bus. The driver of the tipper and the bus have been taken into custody. The body of the deceased is currently lying at the Ranna Zonal Hospital.

Another accident took place near to the Kebithigollewa Roundabout in Medawachchiya when a motorcycle collided with a motor car.

Nuwan Chinthaka, the motorcyclist, succumbed to his injuries upon admission to the Medawachchiya Hospital. The driver of the motor car has been arrested by the Medawachchiya Police. He is due to be produced before courts on Wednesday.
