The Sri Lanka Freedom Party convened a press conference in Colombo on Friday.

Minister of External Affairs, Professor G.L. Peiris said:
How can Maithripala Sirisena say that he will appoint so and so to the post of Prime Minister? He says that the powers will be vested. But the Prime Minister cannot do so. Sub-Clause One of the 37th clause of the constitution says so. Please refer it. It says that the Prime Minister can only use such powers on a temporary basis only when the President is sick or is not in the country.
