Female bus driver sends distress signal from atop Matara tower (Watch Video)

The only female bus driver on the Southern Expressway bus service, staged a protest atop a tower on Sunday, claiming that she was not being given sufficient turns at the wheel.

The protesting driver is employed  on the Matara – Maharagama Passenger Transport Bus Service, on the Southern Expressway.

She had arrived at the Matara Bus Stop at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, in line with her pre-scheduled roster.

However, she says that she was not allowed to drive, in line with her roster. She climbed a Tsunami Warning Signal Tower in Matara and staged a protest against the alleged continuing injustice.

She ended her protest following discussions with Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera and Minister Sanath Jayasuriya who visited the scene.
