Police stated that residents of 22 line houses in Dayagama which were destroyed by a fire on Monday night, have been given temporary shelter at a public building located in close proximity to the area.
Acting Police Media Spokesperson, SSP Ruwan Gunasekara stated that measures have been taken to provide relief for the affected. Around 100 persons belonging to 24 families have been displaced as a result.
Police suspect that the cause of the fire may be be due to a fuse which occurred on Monday night. He added that investigations into the incident are underway.
