It has been revealed that over 2500 persons have lost employment after a ban has been imposed on 59 ice cream and refrigerated food industries in the Jaffna district.

Chairman of the Sub Food and Beverages Production Association of the Jaffna District, M. Udayasiri said that over 15,000 traders have been directly affected by the ban. He said that the Health Ministry of the Northern Province failed to take swift measures even though the repercussions of the ban were clearly explained.
