An incident was reported from Gampola, where the body of an individual was dragged by a motor vehicle for approximately 17 kilometres. The OIC of the Nawalapitiya police station had received information on an incident were an individual had died following an accident in Nawalapitiya.
However, no body was discovered when police arrived at the location where the accident is said to have occurred. Subsequently, during extensive investigations, blood stains along the road were visible for approximately 17 kilometres.
Thereby, it was revealed that the body of the individual had been dragged by the motor vehicle following the accident.
Police Media Spokesperson, SSP Ajith Rohana said:
[quote]The body was discovered in the Gampola town. We suspect that the body may have been dragged by a vehicle or it could have been taken by some person. We believe that this individual may have died following an accident. The Nawalapitiya and Gampola police have launched investigations into this incident. However, this individual has not been identified. It is reported that blood stains are visible along the road from Gampola to Nawalapitiya.[/quote]
