A heated argument broke out in parliament during the committee stage debate on the Budget allocations for 22 institutions including the President’s Office, Prime Minister’s office and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption.
Tensions flared when JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake spoke on irregularities in the various institutions.
As MPs continued to obstruct proceedings, the Deputy Chairman of Committees, Chandrakumar Murugesu, adjourned the sitting for five minutes.
