Assistant Director of the Disaster management Centre, Pradeep Kodoppili stated that four spill gates of the Daduru Oya, and Castlereagh Resevoir have been opened due to the heavy rainfall.
He added that the water levels of the Kalu River, Kelani River and the Aththanagalu river have also risen.

Meanwhile, the Puttlam- Mannar Road has been blocked from Eluwankulam owing to flooding. Police have advised motorists to use alternative route due to this.
