Minister of the Disaster Management Centre Mahinda Amaraweera notes that around 150 persons have been reported missing in the Koslanda, Meeriyabedda area following a landslide.
The Minister said that prior warnings were given to the people in these areas to evacuate in 2005 and 2012, and that this misfortune had taken place because the residents did not take their request into consideration.

According to police, around one and a half kilometres have been buried in rubble owing to the landslide. It is reported that three bodies have been recovered from the rubble so far.
