Commonwealth Secretary General to meet President Rajapaksa

Presidential Spokesperson Mohan Samaranayake said that a meeting between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma is set to take place at Temple Trees on Monday morning.

 Kamalesh Sharma, is also scheduled to meet with Minister of External Affairs, Prof. G. L. Peiris.

Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma, toured the Northern Province on Sunday. The Secretary General who visited Jaffna on Sunday morning held a discussion the governor of the Northern province G.A. Chandrasiri.

The primary focus of this discussion was the development projects that have been implemented in the Northern Province.

Subsequently, Sharma also held discussions with representatives of human rights groups and civil societies of the North. The Commonwealth Secretary General arrived in the country on Saturday on an official visit

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the purpose of his visit is to follow up on the progress of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting which was held in Sri Lanka last year.

Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma will conclude his visit to Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
