A husband and wife aged forty and forty seven respectively, have been killed when they were struck by lightning in the  Weerawilawewa area in Thanthirimale, on Saturday evening.

The police stated that the two were struck by lightning while they were out in their field. The police added that a tool the victim was holding at the time had also been damaged due to the lightning.
