Convening a media briefing on Sunday the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna commented on the controversial coal deal which came to light recently.

Propaganda Secretary of JVP , Vijitha Herath expressed the following views:

“Who imported coal without calling for a tender? Who are the responsible persons? This has to be revealed to the country immediately. Who gave approval to import coal causing a loss of 1.5 billion rupees to be incurred by the people. What was the mechanism used for importation? Who was behind this? Reveal it to the country immediately.”

He added: “Don’t let it float away. This happened in 2012 and now 2014 is almost over. What was the government doing for this long.? They have commenced investigations into the incident only now. There are numerous files with various accusations. These files were used to get people to cross over to the government recently. This is another such cheap attempt.”
