The Ceylon Electricity Board says that the proposed 25 percent tariff reduction will take effect from the billing period between September 16 and October 3.
CEB Media Spokesperson and Deputy General Manager, Senujith Dassanayake said that a decision is yet to be taken on whether this billing structure could be applied for hotels .
The Additional Manager of the CEB further said,
“We need to inform that the new electricity tariff will not come into effect from the 3rd of September to the 16th of September this year. The new 25 percent electricity tariff reduction will be billed for the electricity consumed from the 16th of September to the the 3rd of this month. The electricity monitoring officials may not be able to accurately add the amount to the billing process in accordance with the new tariff reduction for this month, but the bill that is out in November will clearly state the accurate amount after taking the tariff reduction into account. We assure you that the tariff reduction which took effect from the 16th of September will be included in the new billing structure.”
