The Yala National Park which was closed due to the drought will reopen to the public on Thursday.
Director General of Wildlife, H.D. Ratnayaka however stated that it will only be opened for a period of six hours per day.
Director General of Wildlife H.D. Ratnayaka added that the park will be opened to the public from 6 a.m. until noon, through out the week.
The head of the Wildlife Department added that visitors who enter the park’s premises must leave before noon.
He also noted that the Yala National Park and surrounding areas had not received adequate rainfall as yet. As a result water, levels remained low and measures are still being taken to provide water to animals through water bowsers.
