The Ministry of Health has announced that all tourists are to be screened for Malaria upon arrival to the country.
Special screening centres will be established at the Katunayake Airport for this purpose.
Dr. Risintha Premaratne, the Director of the Anti-Malaria Campaign in Sri Lanka, says that 39 tourists have already been reported with Malaria this year
He adds that Sri Lanka will be in line to get a special world health certification if malaria is prevented for the next three years, as we have successfully prevented several diseases from entering the country in the past.
