The Railways Professional Trade Union Alliance says that they will re-commence the strike after taking steps to remove the injunction order issued against them through courts.
Convenor of the alliance Janaka Fernando said they called off the strike upon the issuance of the injunction order. However, he said that it will take a few hours for the resumption of normal train services.
He issued notice to the members of the alliance to report for duties as the strike has now been called off.
The Colombo district court on Friday afternoon issued the injunction order to bring an end to the trade union action launched by 26 trade unions of the railway workers.
The order was issued after District judge Sujatha Alahapperuma considered a petition filed by three commuters. The injunction order will be in effect till October 24.
