Democratic Party Councillor of the Western Provincial Council, Susil Kindelpitiya, says a long-term programme should be prepared to address the waste problem in Kolonnawa.
He made this statement at day two of the Udamina Trade Fair and Carnival organised by the Kolonnawa Sports Club and the Lak Jana Setha Foundation.
Day two of the trade fair and carnival commenced on Saturday under the auspices of Western Provincial Councillor, Susil Kindelpitiya.
Speaking at the event Susil Kindelpitiya expressed the following views:
We must position ourselves in a stance that goes beyond politics. I make this statement with Kolonnawa in mind. We have a responsibility to develop this area. Temporary solutions will not work. This cannot be done by providing arrack, rice packets, sarees, bicycle tires, three-wheeler tires or a sack of rice, during elections. In order to develop the lives of the people, there needs to be a long term programme and vision.
News 1st screen tests are also being held at the trade fair and carnival that is underway at the Umagiliya Sports Ground in Kolonnawa.
