Indian PM Narendra Modi is celebrating his 64th birthday on Wednesday September 17.
Modi who is the 15th Prime Minister of the Indian Subcontinent, was born on 17 September 1950 to a family of grocers in Gujarat, India. He was the third of six children born to Damodardas Mulchand Modi and his wife, Heeraben. He helped his father sell tea at Vadnagar railway station. As a child and as a teenager, he ran a tea stall with his brother near a bus terminus. In 1967, he completed his schooling in Vadnagar, where a teacher described him as being an average student, but a keen debater who had an interest in theatre.
Narendra Modi was sworn in as India’s prime minister on the May 26, 2014, exactly 10 days after his party won the biggest mandate in the last 30 years in India.
As an early morning birthday celebration, PM Narendra Modi met his mother Heeraben to seek her blessings, where she gifted him Rs. 5000 to be donated to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Jammu and Kashmir. The Prime Minister, had reportedly drove the 23 km from Ahmedabad to his mother’s Gandhinagar residence in a lone vehicle, without security.
On his birthday he tweeted,

His birthday dinner is to be partaken in an oversized white Swiss tent on the banks of the river Sabarmati – five such airconditioned luxury tents have been put up.
The PM’s special guest at dinner will be Chinese president Xi Jinping who is currently on a visit to Sri Lanka. President Xi Jin Ping will be leaving Sri Lanka to India following a two-day visit to the country.

A Gujarati banquet is planned and Mr Xi and over a dozen dignitaries are reported to be inivited. Before dinner Mr Modi and Mr Xi will walk down the riverfront, which has been decked up for the occasion.
