President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping arrived in the country a short while ago at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
This is the first visit by a Head of State of China to Sri Lanka in twenty eight years.
President Xi Jinping is on a two-day official visit to Sri Lanka.
Presidential Spokesperson Mohan Samaranayake said that a special function will be held at the Presidential Secretariat for the arrival of the Chinese President. Following the welcoming, Chinese president Xi Jinping will engage in bilateral discussions with his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Mohan Samaranayake said that a Free Trade Agreement and several other agreements between the two countries are due to be signed.
