Four persons have been killed in an accident resulting from a collision involving a cab and a three-wheeler in the Kekirawa area along the Anuradhapura road. The accident took place at around 1.30 on Sunday. The deceased were two women and two men who were travelling in the three-wheeler.
Police said that the three-wheeler, plying from Dambulla to Anuradhapura, collided with the cab that was travelling in the opposite direction. The four passengers of the three-wheeler succumbed to their injuries upon admission to the Kekirawa Hospital.
The deceased women were aged 47 and 42, while the men were aged 56 and 57 and were residents of Maharachchimulla, Alawwa and Kokarella. Their bodies have been placed in the Kekirawa Hospital.
According to the police, the driver of the cab had fled the scene and is to be arrested in connection with the accident.
