Speaking at a media briefing convened on Friday, UNP Parliamentarian Ajith Mannapperuma, remarked on strikes at hospitals.

He shared the following views:
In the present day, when the people of our country want to go to hospital for treatment, they first go to the fortune teller to find out if the doctors are on strike on that day. Or if the nurses or anyone else is on strike. That is what they have been made to do before going to the hospital. Minister Maithripala Sirisena is despairing even more than the patients. That is because he belongs to the Bandaranaike faction. There is a Deputy Minister and all he does is bark in Parliament. There isn’t a single CT scan machine at any hospital under the purview of the provincial councils. Ministers only give ambulances to those hospitals so the patients can go elsewhere to get a CT scan done.
